I just looked out the window a few minutes ago and saw my neighbor throwing something (rocks maybe?) near some deer in his front lawn. First off, I want to make it perfectly clear he obviously wasn't trying to hit the deer...just scare them. No adult throws that badly. It just isn't possible. He recently planted some new flowers, and he was afraid the deer would be after them. And they were.
What was so funny about this whole incident were the reactions from the deer. See, Peachtree City deer aren't used to confrontation. They will walk right out in front of you while you're driving your little golf cart around town and, I swear, they just dare you...DARE YOU...to make them move. They move when they want to. They know no one is going to hurt them, and they take full advantage. They have absolutely no fear.
So usually when most deer are approached (especially in a scary way) they get that whole deer-in-headlights look (duh) for two seconds, then run like the wind. Not this gang of deer. They just looked at each other like -"What is up with this guy? Does he even know who we are?" After that, they stood there watching this guy throw rocks for like a minute, then, finally, reluctantly, left. They kept looking back, too, like even they were shocked over the treatment they were given.
The deer here remind me of those really inconsiderate people that will walk out in front of your car when you're driving around a parking lot of a store. You know those people...they step off the curb without so much as a glance left or right, like they're mentally daring you to run into them. That drives me crazy!
A few years ago, when I worked (for a paycheck), I had this friend who had a daughter that hit someone in the parking garage of our local mall...and she did it on purpose! No, kidding! It was around Christmas time and people were walking all over and cars could barely move. People weren't paying attention at all. Apparently she had had enough, so when some lady stepped off the curb just as she was driving by, this girl didn't even stop (she was going really, really, really slow). She bumped this woman and really made her mad (obviously). The girl stopped the car right then and there and gave that woman a huge piece of her mind. I'm sure it was quite a scene. Bottom line: The woman wasn't hurt and, I believe, the girl made her point. I don't see myself ever actually doing that, but I have daydreamed about it a time or two.
