Anyway, the class was very interesting. Almost everything I thought I knew about Hanukkah was completely and totally wrong. My husband is Jewish and, of course, so is his family, so you would have thought that I would have picked up a few things by now. (We've been married almost 8 years.) But no...the only things I've learned are food related. Things like - What is a traditional food to eat at Rosh Hoshanah? (Apples and honey) or...What do you typically eat on latkes or potato pancakes? (Applesauce or sour cream) ...Those are the types of things I've learned.
We did get a really, really good brunch afterwards. There were all these homemade quiches and sausage casseroles, cheese grits, latkes (with applesauce), kugel (that's a baked noodle dish -it's very good!), and homemade...yes HOMEMADE... JELLY DONUTS! Can you believe someone MADE jelly donuts?!! They were better than Dunkin' Donuts could ever hope to be, by the way!!! All in all, a very good way to spend my morning.

Oh, and don't worry -my daughter got to eat, too. I wouldn't make her sit in the nursery with just cheese and crackers while we were all eating homemade donuts. It just wouldn't be right.
