Son's First (and Better Be Only!) Cavity

First of all, congratulate me for remembering my son's dental appointment today! (*applause, applause*). We were even a few minutes early. Hooray!

However...have you ever tried entertaining a toddler in a dentist's waiting room for 45 minutes? A waiting room with several people and no toys? I honestly needed a nap when it was all over. (Haven't had it, but still need it.) Not fun. Just not fun. She was good, though, but clearly bored. I brought toys, food, and juice. That entertained her for 10 minutes. I just kept showing her every picture of a dog or a baby I could find, pointing out squirrels in the yard, and chasing her down the hallway (that wasn't on purpose -she just kept getting away). Finally, my son appeared with half his mouth numb and looking very, very unhappy. "He did really well," the dentist said. Of course, I knew he would.

Thank goodness that's over.
