Just one week and one day until Halloween. That means that all of next week we are having halloween-themed meals. Yes, I am THAT uncool and dorky. I really don't care, either. We enjoy it. I'm going to try and put each night's recipes on the blog, so everyone can join in the festivities. (You're getting excited, aren't you? I can feel it through my screen!)
So far, though, I have been totally disappointed over this year's holiday tv schedule. There have been no crazy talk-to-the-dead specials (as of yet), no new scary movies on tv, no Haunting marathon on Discovery...what is going on here? It's halloween...scare me a little! Let's see that holiday spirit! I better see something next week or someone will pay...(cue evil laugh...mwah hah hah).
Anyway, my son seems to have inherited my love for all things frightful. We went to Kmart the other day, and my husband presses some button on a statue which makes the guy laugh and pull off his head. My son declares this as "awesome" and wants to see it over and over. My daughter, who I thought wasn't even paying attention, gets hysterical. (Don't worry -I took her right out. I want this to be fun not traumatize her.) My son then goes through the halloween aisles getting completely mesmerized at the freaky zombie creatures and crawling hands. I blame the fact that my husband and I went to each and every halloween-themed attraction in the Dallas/Fort Worth area before I knew I was pregnant. Well, that and plus the fact that I enjoy checking out the bizarre decorations, too.
Which reminds me -Kmart had this crazy shower curtain for sale decorated in blood splatters. When you pushed this button on it it played the theme from "Psycho" and ended with a woman screaming. I'm thinking I'll buy it after halloween and just hang it up when we have overnight guests. If they stay too long, then I'll sneak in while they're in the shower and press that button. That should hurry them up. (mwah hah hah...:-)
